The Patio: Loop
A performance evening
Diana Policarpo, Lee Fraser
Friday 6 July, 7-10 pm

An evening with two sound-driven artists, a live set of recent work with composer and musician Lee Fraser, and visual artist and free composer Diana Policarpo will present ’Panacea’, a sonic-poem that explores "techno-metabolism" in three movements.

Lee Fraser’s recent compositions are influenced by digital synthesis and psychoacoustics. He performs internationally in concerts and festivals, as well as performing regularly on radio broadcasts including BBC3.

Based in London and Lisbon, Diana Policarpo is a visual artist working with composition, sculpture, improvisation, and sound to investigate power relations, popular culture, and gender politics.

The Patio: Play
A screening by Tom Crawford
Seecum Cheung, Lucy Clout, Tom Crawford and Joseph Rafferty, John Smith, Richard Whitby, Rehana Zaman
Sunday 8 July, 5-8 pm

A screening of six films, selected by artist Tom Crawford, that collectively examine structural themes: social, physical, personal, and political. Represented in the films are images and narratives that depict strategies for resistance, structures for living, notions of place, the mundane and the dramatic, the blurring of public and private, and the politics of development. Although these films display diverse means, they share common ground in interpreting the world and its architecture, both metaphorically and literally.

Seecum Cheung, The Dutch Window (2017), 35’23”
Lucy Clout, Warm Bath (2016), 11’5”
Tom Crawford and Joseph Rafferty, Hello Reverie! (2017), 15’
John Smith, Blight (1996), 16’
Richard Whitby, If I was where I would be (2017), 5’
Rehana Zaman, Lourdes (2017), 10’53”

Founded in 2012 by JL Murtaugh as a London-based, artist-run exhibition series, Syndicate was re-formed in 2016 as an independent enterprise headquartered in Cologne. After a further twenty projects held throughout Europe and North America in the time since, it establishes its new Los Angeles bureau this autumn. Syndicate is a platform for exhibitions, events, and publications, focused on long-term artist collaborations and facilitating support for its international community.
